just logged on to this site my dad jimmy ashcroft was not on this photo but his best mate is ken whittacker 5th row taken may 1942 penny has dropped he was up in largs marrying my mum dad passed away 17 jan 2015 2wks short of his 97 th birthday

Number 32 is my granddad Jack Bromley (lance corporal at the time of this photo I think). He was Stoke born and bred - worked in the potteries and supported Stoke City. This photo must have been taken just before his 23rd birthday, which was the 5th of June. When I was young, I remember him showing me this exact photograph and pointing out the many who had died during the invasion.
He died peacefully in 2004 at the age of 83.

very interesting - I think Hylton should be Hilton if this was the section that landed at Yellow Beach One. My father Roger Hilton was captured there as were many others and i would love to read any accounts of that event. Thank you
