On the back written in my father's hand is 44RM Commandos X Troop Ceylon. He was mentioned in dispatches, London Gazette, 6th February 1945 (LG 36925, page 757), following action at Kangaw village Tuesday 23rd January 1945. Presented with Oak leaf, was discharged 30th July 1946, rank Sergeant."
