His role on Operation Chariot at St Nazaire was to command a Protection Party travelling with Captain Pritchard, on ML 457. He was wounded and subsequently captured. After capture and once his wounds had healed he was put to work in the medical wing of the POW camp. Before the war he had been a medical student and after his release he resumed his studies and had a successful career as a Doctor.
