Thomas Frank Rothwell
Born 13 March 1923.
Conscripted 1941 Royal Marines.

Reported killed in action 18 September 1943 Salerno.
Parents advised of his death.
Subsequently found to have been taken Prisoner of War with a serious head wound.
Later transported to Stalag 18A at Wolfsberg Austria.
PoW No. 8703.
Parents only discovered he was alive on his return home in 1945.
Served from 21 October 1941 until 23 May 1946 Class A Release.
Re enlisted Royal Marines at Deal 31 October 1950.

Served with 3 Commando Brigade RM, 42 Commando, from 7 December 1953 for the next 2 years.

Mne Thomas Frank Rothwell served with 41RM Commando in WW2 and was reported killed in action at Salerno. He was later found to have been taken prisoner and transported to Stalag 18A. Post war he re-enlisted and served with 42 Commando RM.
