The Rev John Wallis, RNVR, BA, who landed with the troops and assisted in taking care of the wounded and dying, with Colour Sergeant A Dunn and Sergeant J W Tanswell.<br />
<br />
<i>Reverend John Charles Wallis was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for &quot;great courage and fortitude in tending the wounded and bringing in casualties during the operations at Salerno&quot; (LG Supp.36537, page 2497 and errata LG Supp. 36551, page 2705). Post war he became Cannon Wallis. His death was announced in Commando Association newsletter 96 issued March 1993.<br />

PO.X.100289 Colour Sergeant (Temporary) (Acting Temporary Company Sergeant Major) Alec Dunn received a Mention In Despatches for outstanding service while operating with the Allied Armies in Italy. (LG Supp. 36903, page 518).<br />
<br />
PLY/X.3849 Corporal (Acting Temporary Company Sergeant Major) John William Tanswell was awarded the Military Medal for his gallantry during the Normandy and Walcheren landings. (LG Supp. 37464, page 910 and NA file WO373/47/102).</i>]]></description>
