Both men were 2nd Battalion Scots Guards prior to secondment to No. 8 Commando and then the SAS. Stanley was killed in the “L” Detachment raids on the Axis airfields at Gazala and Tmimi in November 1941. Fred was killed in Tunisia in 1943
