<br />
Medals: Korea Medal; United Nations Korea Medal; Naval General Service Medal with clasp Near East ; General Service Medal with clasps Malay Peninsula and Borneo; Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.<br />
<br />
Edward Eli John Stock enlisted into the Royal Marines 28 April 1949 aged 17. Marine Stock completed his commando training and was awarded his green beret on his 18th birthday 21 March 1950. He was deployed to Korea with 41 Independent Commando RM. Wounded 29 November 1950 Battle of Chosin Reservoir. Suffered severe frostbite. Married to Joyce on 8 September 1951.<br />
<br />
Later postings within the Corps included RM Detachment HMS Birmingham 1952-1954; 42 Commando RM 1955/56; ITCRM 1958 (Cpl) - 1964 (Sgt); 40 Commando RM 1964-1966; ITCRM 1966 (Sgt) - 1969 (QMS); QMS 42 Commando RM 1969-1971; and QMS CTCRM 1971/72. Discharged on pension 20 March 1972. <br />
<br />
Joined the Civil Service for a year in 1972  and engaged in assisting with the relocation of the Ugandan Asian refugees. In 1973 he took up employment with Lloyds Bank, Exeter. Promoted to Chief Cashier of the Weymouth branch in 1980. Retired 1992.<br />

<br />
<b>Award:</b> Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air.<br />
<b>Citation:</b> On 1st June 1970 in Trengganu, Malaysia, seven Gurkha soldiers were injured in a traffic accident whilst taking part in an exercise. All seven required urgent medical attention and the circumstances necessitated air evacuation. The rescue was carried out by Colour Sergeant Summers and Sergeant Watson each piloting helicopters in appalling flying conditions. Both pilots showed great flying skill and devotion to duty throughout the three hour operation.<br />
