14317293 Private James Innes, No.3 Commando, was wounded on 5 October 1943 during operations at Termoli, Italy.
James Fraser Innes was a Police Constable in Larbert who volunteered for the Commandos in 1942. He enlisted in the General Service Corps and was posted to the 3rd Police Intake at the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre) at Achnacarry. On completion of his training he was nominally transferred to the Seaforth Highlanders and posted to No.3 Commando.

I believe Trooper Innes May have actually been an Inspector when this photo was taken judging by a single shoulder ‘pip’,and banded Cap visor. He is not wearing Medal Ribbons, so may have been pre-War.
