<br />
Pte A G (George) Evans MM. Joined the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters in January 1939 and the SBS in 1943/44. <br />
<br />
Already the recipient of the Military Medal for gallant and distinguished services in the field <a href="https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/35794/supplement/5091" rel="nofollow">London Gazettes entry re award</a>, he was later one of the Alimnia Patrol of the Special Boat Squadron who were captured on the 7th April 1944, and executed, along with three Greek seamen from the Greek Sacred Regiment who accompanied them. <br />
