46RM Commando 'A' troop. Photo courtesy of his daughter Sue Jones who adds "My father died in 1986 and like many who served did not talk much about what he did. I have only recently found out that RM46 was at the liberation of Rots in 1944. His best friend during his time in the marines and after the war was A (Alf) Shepherd.. I do know that Alf was injured at some point and lost his leg. After many years I heard from one of Alfs sons who told me that they went over to France for the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Rots. He said that the whole village got involved to show their gratitude."
