A photograph of a motor launch (ML) of the type which took part in the raid on St Nazaire. Additional armament and guns were added, as well as additional fuel tanks placed on the deck. Sixteen such MLs were assigned to the force and were to carry commandos and demolition parties into St Nazaire. Their frail wooden hulls offered scant protection and only three of the craft survived the operation.
