7360074 L/Cpl George William Stanley Hughes was recommended for the Distinguished Conduct Medal, however awarded the Military Medal. He was attached to No 9 Commando from the Royal Army Medical Corps in March 1941, and was awarded the Military Medal for his gallantry during the Italian campaign, particularly during operations near the Garigliano - Operation Partridge 29th Dec 1943, and at Ornito 2/3rd Feb 1944, and at Anzio on the 19th March 1944.
