In 1939 Evelyn Cant was a Police Constable, collar number 313, serving with Essex County Constabulary, single, and residing with his mother at 3 Chapel Street, Billericay, Essex.
May 1942 volunteered for the commandos and joined the 2nd Police Intake to the CBTC at Achnacarry. Posted to No.2 Commando.
16 September 1943 Corporal Evelyn Cant, 4 Troop, was wounded during operations at Salerno, Italy.
7 April 1945 commissioned Second Lieutenant from OCTU.
Re-joined Essex Constabulary post war and married Marjorie.
14 June 1969 Police Sergeant Cant, Essex County Constabulary, was awarded the British Empire Medal (Civil Division).
