<title><![CDATA[Operation Musketoon, No.2 Commando raid on an electricity generating station at Glomfjord]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[Ten Commandos from No 2 Commando and 2 Norwegians, Erling Djupdraet and Sverre Granlund, attached to Norwegian Independent Company 1,  Special Operations Executive, took part in the raid. They were taken by submarine to a remote Fjord, completed a difficult overland route, approaching their target from the rear and successfully destroyed it. Seven were captured and later executed at Sachsenhausen Concentraion Camp under Hitler's infamous Commando Order. <br />
<br />
Those executed are Remembered with Honour at the Brookwood Memorial. <br />

The Memorial at Sachsenhausen is in memory of not only those executed on the above raid, but of all the British and Commonwealth Forces, many still unknown, who were interned and perished there, or elsewhere, at the hands of their captors. These include the Commandos from Operation Checkmate.<br />

Djupdræt, a Norwegian, was attached as a guide/scout to the No 2 Commando raiding party for Operation Musketoon.<br />

Photo courtesy of Stig Olav Johansen who adds that Sgt. Djupdraet evaded initial capture but was badly wounded by a German who bayoneted him in the stomach in Fykandalen, inside a cabin. He died of his wounds in hospital in Bodø on Sept. 24th. 1942, three days after the Musketoon Operation.<br />

He was awarded the DCM for his actions during Operation Musketoon just 6 months later.
