Captain of 'A' troop 44RM Commando at Hill 170 and Pinner. Post war Captain Syms was with the Provost Section for the Commando Brigade. He he was very active in the Royal Marines Association and for a period was President of the former 44RM Commando Association. In 2005 he led a group of Veterans on a Pilgrimage back to Kangaw.
