Ernie served in Korea and Malaya in the early 50's, and Suez. Some notable dates from his service record show Commando School RM - 29th Jan - 17th May 1951; served with 41 Independent Commando - 1st Aug'51 - 29th Jan'52 and with 42 Commando RM, 3rd Commando Brigade 30th Jan'52 - 21st Sept'53. This squad provided the Guard of Honour for Winston Churchill at Dover on the 14th August 1946. They completed their initial Depot training in September 1946.
