Marine Kierans and four others from' Lima Company 42 Commando RM were killed on the 12th December 1962 during an action which resulted in the rescue of all the hostages taken and held at Limbang, Sarwak.

'Scouse' Kierans (his fellow Marines christened him Scouse) was killed in action during the hostage rescue assault on Limbang, Sarawak.
