Private Frank Salisbury was reported missing 26 February 1943 in North Africa (Battle of Steamroller Farm, El Arousa, Tunisia), later confirmed wounded and a prisoner of war until 1945. Released from military service 31 December 1945.
Frank Salisbury was a Police Constable from Crewe who volunteered for the Commandos joining on 24 July 1942 the 2nd Police Intake to the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre), Achnacarry, where he was given a temporary rank of Lance Corporal reverting to Private on joining No.6 Commando. Member of the Commando Association. Post war he re-joined Cheshire Police and in June 1966 was promoted Sergeant in charge of the Information Room at County Police Headquarters, Chester.
