Leonard Bryer was a footman residing next door to the Police Station at Fakenham where his father served as a Police Inspector. After enlisting with the Royal Marines, Marine Bryer later joined 42RM Commando and was posted to the Far East for active service in Burma. His Grandson Lee Bryer adds &quot;I understand that he was injured while in Burma, shot I believe, and that he spent time in India&quot;.<br />
