On the afternoon of the 5th June 1944, the day before D day, nearly 3,000 Commandos were embarked in 36 Infantry Landing Craft from the Rising Sun Pier, on the Warsash side of the River Hamble, Hants. On the 28th May 1980 a plaque was unveiled by the Rt. Hon. The Countess Mountbatten of Burma, CD,JP,DL

CH 103441 Sgt. W.F.H. 'Bill' Blythe was in 48RM Cdo. I have seen a note of him being wounded on D Day

Update by Pete R. 20/5/12 Confirmation now received that Percy is George Leonard Bream. Sadly I received news today that Percy passed away on the 7th May 2012
