Gordon Pollard was first awarded the Military Medal whilst a Sergeant with the Royal Artillery. He was commissioned and was attached to No.3 Commando and was awarded the Military Cross for his gallantry whilst a 2/Lt. at Termioli. On the 11/12th June 1944 whilst an Acting Captain with No.3 Commando he was awarded a bar to his Military Cross for his gallantry at Amfreville.
