Jack was a policeman who volunteered for the commandos in 1942.

Jack served in No 2 Commando. This photo, post war after he had rejoined the Metropolitan Police, shows Jack receiving his £15 reward for his gallantry on duty which resulted in him being awarded the British Empire Medal.
