Eric Taylor had written about the image which was taken when they were on the Isle of Fehmarn, off Kiel. "We had no sooner landed on the island, than we heard a rumour that Hitler might not be dead, and that an aeroplane was known to be located at a large country house. Sergeant Kirby and myself made a dash to the house in the 'S' troop jeep, complete with mounted vickers. This turned out to be a false alarm."

His son Keith adds "The rumour was not Hitler but Himmler."
