Overseas service in India January 1936 to May 1944 with the Provost staff of the 1st Somerst Light Infantry, the Indian Division Provost Unit and the Corps of Military Police. <br />
31 May 1944 posted 16 Infantry Training Centre (UK).<br />
27 July 1944 to 13 July 1945  permanently attached to the Holding Operational Commando at Wrexham. <br />
14 July 1945 permanently attached 4th Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Battalion before release to Army Reserve. <br />
Military conduct recorded as exemplary. <br />

EX.1168 Mne. Leonard Cubitt (3rd row in the middle) served in the Royal Marine Commandos from August 1943 until 14 December 1945. The precise commando unit is not known but he did serve in Burma during that period which was the theatre of operations of 3 Special Service (Commando) Brigade. In December 1945 he was based at the Holding Operational Commando.<br />

Pte. David Wilson Fletcher, born 22 July 1926, volunteered for the Commandos and was posted to the Commando Basic Training Centre for his training in April 1945. After successfully completing his training he was sent to the Holding Operational Commando but within a few months the disbandment of the Army Commandos commenced.<br />
<br />
In 1946 he was commissioned and served with 2nd Bn. 7th Gurkha Rifles attaining the rank of Captain before resigning his commission in 1950 to work as an assistant tea plantation manager in East Bengal.<br />
<br />
David Wilson Fletcher was the author of &quot;The Children of Kanchenjunga&quot; which tells of his experiences in Tibet. He ran a tea plantation in Darjeeling in 1953 and wrote another book about his time there &quot;Himalayan Tea Garden.&quot;<br />
