Service no: 915214. <br />
Regiment: Royal Artillery. <br />
Attached to No.7 Commando not long after its formation leaving them mid 1941.<br />
22 June 1942 captured whilst with 68 Med. Regt RA at Tobruk. <br />
11 September 1943 Milan - escaped via Switzerland.<br />
21 September 1943 arrived Switzerland.<br />

Frederick Spencer Barkham, born 25 October 1912, lived in Swindon most of his early life and was a stone mason before and after the war. Post war member of the Commando Association. He died in September 1999. Photos and documents courtesy of his grandson Dean Barkham]]></description>

His original regiment was the Royal Artillery. Whilst serving with the RA he was captured on the 22/6/1942. He remained a POW until 11/9/1943 when he escaped and made it to freedom via Switzerland.
