Lance Bombardier Henry Lavery was reported wounded, missing, and believed a prisoner of war on 18 August 1944, later confirmed as having died of wounds whilst in enemy hands. No.6 Commando were engaged in operations at Bavent, France. Son of Henry and Bridget Lavery; husband of Eileen Gertrude Lavery, of Feltham, Middlesex. Henry had enlisted into the Royal Artillery at Edinburgh in 1930 whilst residing in Uphall, West Lothian. <br />

Lance Bombardier Henry Lavery died of wounds whilst attached to No.6 Commando. Henry Lavery enlisted in 1930 at Edinburgh into the Royal Artillery whilst residing in Uphall, West Lothian. He volunteered for the Commandos in WW2. Henry was reported wounded, missing, and believed a prisoner of war on 18 August 1944, later confirmed as having died of wounds whilst in enemy hands.
