Major William Oranmore 'Bill' Copland DSO, No.2 Commando 1941
Major Copland was the 2nd i/c of No.2 Commando. He was awarded the DSO after the raid on St Nazaire, Lt. Colonel Newman reporting that "his leadership, courage, and disregard for danger to be a great example to all".
