Lt. Davidson, Lt. Col. Newman, Lord Gort VC, Major Copland, No.2 Commando 1941
This photo was taken in 1941. From the left standing are Lt. Andrew Davidson, No.4 Ind. Coy., and 5 troop of No.2 Commando was injured in a mcy accident in April 1941. He later rejoined the Liverpool Scottish for the remainder of the war. Lt. Col. Augustus Charles Newman, CO of No.2 Cdo., Lord Gort, and Major William Oranmore Copland who was 2nd i/c. Lt. Col. Newman and Major Copland both took part in Operation Chariot and were taken POW. Lt Col. Newman was awarded the VC and Major Copland the DSO.
I do not know the details of the 2 OR's in the photo.
