Lance Corporal John Skelton was killed in action during operations at Vaagso, Norway. Son of Tom and Clara Skelton of Crookes, Sheffield; husband of Evelyn Skelton, of Sheffield. <br />

This is a photo of the family grave at Crookes Cemetery, Sheffield, where he is amongst those named on the headstone. His actual grave is at Trondheim (Stavne) Cemetery, Norway.<br />

 <title><![CDATA[Envelope bearing Albert Skeates' name]]></title>

At the back of the burial register I found a brown envelope addressed to Major George Parsons, Forces Chaplain and postmarked 18th August 1939. Inside were two internment certificates and five body disposal certificates all for unidentified men whose bodies had been recovered from the sea during the Dunkirk evacuation. One internment certificate was for 20 year old 1st Class Aircraftsman Lambert Howarth who was killed on 16th September 1940 when a cross channel shell hit his barrage balloon station on the seafront. <br />

On the back of the envelope I was surprised to find Albert Skeates' details.
