Update 4/2/12 from Pete R.  Steve George identifies Mne. Thomas Vardy MM as 3rd from the left and Mne. T. Hilson (also seen spelt as Hilsen) as far right at the back.<br />

Citation for the Military Medal awarded to PLY/X 103900 Marine Thomas Vardy MM<br />
<br />
This Marine was signal operator attached to Y Troop during the attack on Le Hamel and Rots on 11th June. He was carrying a 38 set. Despite this load he pushed himself to the front and took a leading part in three assaults on enemy positions. His dash and determination when under heavy fire had an inspiring effect on the men of the troop..(L.G.29.8.44)<br />
