Update from his son Mark:
Dad served in F Troop 4 Commando from, I believe , late 43 onward. I also believe that he was in the 1st batch of reinforcements that went in after D Day rejoining F Troop there. He took part in Operation Infatuate 1 where he became a casualty ( aggravated motorcycle accident). Was medevac'd to a Canadian(?) Field hospital in Bruges but because his injuries were so bad was medevac'd again back to the UK. He was eventually medically discharged from service with 40% disability. What was meant by "aggravated" motor cycle accident I have no idea and my father never told me. However, his injuries did take their toll as he died in 1968 ( Boxing Day) at the age of 46.
