October 1934 Lance Corporal released to Army Reserve.<br />
02.11.1934 joined Burnley Borough Police Force aged 24. Sworn in 18 June 1935.<br />
01.12.1939 re-enlisted Coldstream Guards.<br />
15.08.1940 attached No.8 Commando, appointed Acting Corporal (unpaid Lance Sergeant).<br />
10.11.1940 No.8 Commando redesignated 4 Special Service Bn.<br />
01.02.1941 reverts to No.8 Commando.<br />
31.01.1941 - 17.08.1941 Layforce, M.E.F..<br />
18.011.941 embarked for UK and rejoins Coldstream Guards.<br />
Post war resumed Police Service attaining rank of Chief Inspector by retirement. <br />
