<description><![CDATA[Corporal Frank Nightingale was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for gallantry during the assault on the island of Walcheren.<br />
Post war Frank worked as a Bus Conductor for London Transport and was a member of the Commando Association.<br />
Emigrating in the early 1960's Frank spent the rest of his life in Australia. He was actively involved in Australian veterans activities and often returned for reunions, including visits to Middleburg in the Netherlands for Walcheren.<br />
In the 1980's he was Vice President of the RM Association of South Australia.<br />
