<description><![CDATA[Lance Corporal Thomas Alfred Taylor, 2 Troop, was Mentioned in Despatches in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in Italy (Sicily).<br />
Thomas joined the Metropolitan Police on 16 January 1939. In 1942 he volunteered for the Commandos as part of the Police Intakes. <br />
After completing the commando course at the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre) he was attached to No.3 Commando and served in 2 Troop (Heavy Weapons). Thomas served with No.3 Commando for the remainder of the war after which he rejoined the Metropolitan Police. He retired on 25 July 1965 as a Detective Sergeant on &quot;F&quot; Division.<br />
