<description><![CDATA[Frederick Emuss from Preston took part in operations at Normandy and the advance through France, the Netherlands, and into Germany. On D Day he was a Corporal in 'E' Troop, the parachute trained troop of 45RM Commando, and later promoted Sergeant.<br />
 <br />
An Officer wrote &quot;D Day + 2.  Ammunition was low and allocation was being shared amongst the Troops.  By 9:00am the enemy patrols and sniping activity had increased. Counter sniping parties were organized and managed to achieve some success, in particular Corporal Emuss of Troop E and Corporal Bartholomew of Troop C had good bags&quot;.<br />

Partington who joined 45RM Commando 'B' troop in February 1945 as a young 19 year old subaltern and was still with them when the commando unit designation was changed to 45 Commando RM.
