"Called up on 2nd September 1939 for wartime service with the 1/4th Battalion South Lancashire Regiment (Territorials, John Wall served in 1940 with No 4 Independent Company in Norway; the 1st Battalion South Lancashire Regiment during 1940/41.
He served also during 1941/1946 with 5 Commando in Madagascar, India, Burma, and Hong Kong."
