Training during a blizzard in Scotland, Sgt Martien van Barneveld, 2(Dutch)Troop, No10 (IA) Cdo is the tall figure with a beret in the centre of this photo. Known to the Dutch recruits as 'the Big Man of Achnacarry', Martien van Barneveld was an instructor of trainee commandos for 2 (Dutch) Troop, this was in 1944 when he had returned from the battle of Arnhem.
