Jonathan adds, "My father was in H troop of 45 RM Commando. His service number was CH/X 110591. He was not a career soldier, joining up "to do his bit" in the war. He landed on D-Day at Sword and fought in France, Holland and Germany, leaving the Commando's after hostilities ended."
