War Weapons Week parade Dumfries 1941. Middle of the front row of 3 kilted is my uncle Ken McAllister who later became TSM. This was pre the raid on St Nazaire when 5 troop was known (for obvious reasons) as 5 Liverpool Scottish troop. That changed to the Scottish troop and after St Nazaire soon just became 5 troop.
[Update 22/3/12 from Pete R.] TSM Ken Bruce at the front, followed by 3 Sgts (l-r) uk, Ken McAllister, Colin Jones; behind them next row (l-r) possibly Jack Cheetham, then Len Perkins
[Update 22/3/12 from Mark Brockway] The shop shown here - George Young & Sons, Umbrella Makers - was in 1921 located at 197 High Street, Dumfries, on the corner of High Street and Friar’s Vennel at the north end of the High Street.
