Award: Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air.
Citation: On 1st June 1970 in Trengganu, Malaysia, seven Gurkha soldiers were injured in a traffic accident whilst taking part in an exercise. All seven required urgent medical attention and the circumstances necessitated air evacuation. The rescue was carried out by Colour Sergeant Summers and Sergeant Watson each piloting helicopters in appalling flying conditions. Both pilots showed great flying skill and devotion to duty throughout the three hour operation.
"It is with much sadness that I inform of the death of a dear friend and fellow Commando, Major Brian 'Tug' Wilson who died on Tuesday 21 February 2012 aged 70 years. Tug was a huge character in the Commando Ordnance Squadron and Commando Logistic Regiment throughout the 70s and 80s and captained the Regimental rugby team for many years. Tug leaves his wife Cylla and family who our thoughts are with in their time of sadness."
In album Commando Logistic Support Squadron
