Fusilier John Cudby, No.2 Commando 6 Troop, was reported missing 28 March 1942 after Operation Chariot at St Nazaire, later found to be a prisoner of war. He had embarked on ML177 for the raid. Post war member of the Commando Association from Workington.

Regiment/Corps: Royal Fusiliers.
Service: Army.
Service no: 6468006.
P.O.W. no: 18570.

Front Stalag (Lazarette) 133, nr. Rennes;

Royal Fusiliers / Royal Horse Guards /Army no. 6461392
Participated with British Expeditionary Force in Norway 1940. Evacuated to UK. Served as batman to Captain Evelyn Waugh*. Transferred Royal Horse Guards circa August 1943 and completed Parachute Training Course circa December 1943 still in role as batman. His family advise he later served at Arnhem. Medals: 1939/45 Star; France and Germany Star; Defence Medal; War Medal.

Private Freeman was reported missing 2 June 1941 during the rear-guard action in Crete, later confirmed a prisoner of war. Escaped twice whilst in captivity but was recaptured on each occasion.
