Joe landed in North Africa with No. 6 and was wounded twice including when the flatbed train carrying No. 6 was attacked by German planes in late November of 1942.<br />

joe sent this photo to his wife, Margaret &quot;Jane&quot; Ryan Miles on the birth of their daughter (Todd's mother)  24 May 1942, while he was still in Northern Ireland with the 168th Infantry, 34th Division.  It reads &quot;Love to Janie- Yours Daddy.&quot;   Joe would not meet his daughter until November 1944 when he returned to the USA and was assigned to the Ranger Training Cadre at Ft.
