As Idris Jones was with No1 Commando from it very inception, this particular example would have been from the very first consignment of Green Berets issued and was worn by Idris throughout the N. African and Burma Campaigns.

There are photos of Bob in the main gallery. His parent regiment was Royal Norfolk Regt. This beret, not his original, was worn by Bob at Commando services. The badge shown here was issued by the Commando Association in the 50's. The actual badge on the beret for No.2 Cdo. was a simple dagger for OR's, and the dagger with the initials SS (without 'Commando' across the top) for Officers.
