<description><![CDATA[In 1939 Evelyn Cant was a Police Constable, collar number 313, serving with Essex County Constabulary, single, and residing with his mother at 3 Chapel Street, Billericay, Essex.<br />
May 1942 volunteered for the commandos and joined the 2nd Police Intake to the CBTC at Achnacarry. Posted to No.2 Commando.<br />
16 September 1943 Corporal Evelyn Cant, 4 Troop, was wounded during operations at Salerno, Italy.<br />
7 April 1945 commissioned Second Lieutenant from OCTU.<br />
Re-joined Essex Constabulary post war and married Marjorie.<br />
14 June 1969 Police Sergeant Cant, Essex County Constabulary, was awarded the British Empire Medal (Civil Division).<br />
