Gnrs. Frank Oram and V. Hill Oct 1945 Germany

This photo of Gnrs. Oram and Hill (No 9 Commandos) was taken during the period at the end of the war when Commandos were being demobbed in order of date of enlistment. The Army Commandos were to be disbanded. Commandos were placed into Groups relevant to when they enlisted, whilst awaiting demob. In this case they were Group 27. They had a choice of either going back to their original regiment, or volunteering for deployment to Commando units still operational. In this case No 4 Commando were engaged on post war duties in the vicinity of Recklinghausen in Germany.

Gnr. Frank Oram (9 and 4 Cdos), a G.P.O. linesman, died on August 7th 1956, as a result of an accident at work.
