After attending the STC Lochailort on the 26th February 1941, Maurice Cadden served in No.2 Commando from 17th April 1941 until 22nd December 1942. On the 6th February 1943 after a period at the Infantry Depot, Wrexham, he was attached to the 7th Bn Border Regiment. On the 12th June 1943 he disembarked in Egypt and the following month he was posted to 151 (Durham)Brigade Support Coy. The transcript (awaiting full copy from the MOD) of his Service Record then states on the 19th July 1943 Embarked for unknown destination - H Force. After embarking for the UK on the 17th October 1943 he was transferred to the 2nd Bn. Cheshire Regiment and promoted Corporal. On the 25th December 1944 he was accidentally killed (motor accident)in Belgium.
