" On the left is Offerman. He was the oldest guy in the Troop and later left the Troop because of his age. He was 42 I believe. The first man on the right is De Koning. The man next to him is Guido Zembsch-Schreve. Some years ago I have had the honour of being his guest for a whole day. He left No 2 Dutch Troop to join SOE and after his training was parachuted into France together with his wireless operator. His mission was to set up escape lines from Holland, through Belgium and France into Spain. After the drop they had to go to Paris. This they did by hitchhiking in a German staff car!! From Paris he went to Belgium and Holland to set up the lines, one of which ran along the place I live, Roosendaal. Back in Paris he made the mistake of taking over a job from another agent, something you much never do he told me. When he left a café he was arrested by the Gestapo and interrogated in a prison in Paris where they beat him with rubber hosepipes. Because of the D-day landings they moved him to another prison and from there to a concentration camp. In the end he had been in three of them! One was called Dora where the engines of the V1/V2 were made. There he managed to copy the complete administration of the Germans and took it with him. Because the Allies came nearer and nearer the Germans moved them again. On the way Guido arranged a fight amongst the prisoners and during the fight he managed to escape with several of them. After a long journey they entered Holland again and were arrested. After his identity was confirmed he went to Brussels were he visited his parents for the first time in five years. Back in England he was tasked with the inquiries into the infamous Englandspiel. He was disgusted by what he found out and refused to go on with it. What a man!! "
