L/Sgt Bill Gibson No.2 Cdo. 6 troop - a last letter to his father
A letter from L/Sgt Bill Gibson to his father written on Tuesday 24th March 1942. Bill wrote this letter just before setting off on Operation Chariot - St Nazaire. It was to be delivered in the event of his death. Sadly Bill, who was on board ML268, was killed in action on the 28th March 1942. This letter is reproduced with the permission of Micky Burn MC who was Bill's troop Captain on the raid.
Aside from copyright issues, simply out of respect for this young Commando who gave his life in such a heroic manner, I would ask that his personal letter is not copied or reproduced elsewhere. If you wish to show it please just create a hyperlink to this album. For any further information contact the CVA
