Bronze metal cap badge designed by Cpl Maurice CHAUVET, at the request of Admiral MUSELIER, on the formation of 1er BFMC (1st Battalion Fusilier Marine Commando). Each badge had a unique serial number. This one, serial number 1, was issued to Capitaine de Corvette Kieffer.
Prior to the 1er BFMC being formed, the commandos of 1er Compagnie Fusilier Marins (1st Marine Rifle Company) serving in No10 (IA) Cdo wore the badge of the Free French Naval Forces (FNFL - Forces Navales Francaises Libre) on their caps.
