In November 1945 Nos.1 and 5 Cdos. were in Hong Kong. The war was over and they were in the process of running down through demobilization. As numbers decreased No 1 Cdo and No 5 Cdo merged to form 1/5 Commando [there is a separate album for them]. 45RM Commando gradually took over their duties until 1/5 Cdo. was finally disbanded at the beginning of 1947.

Fred Manning was was a Policeman in West Malling, Kent, and in the 3rd Police Intake at the Commando Depot commencing 15/10/42. On the 19th January 1943 he was attached to No.5 Commando. Fred went back to policing after the War. He passed away in February 1978

Geoff Hill, KRRC & 5 Troop, No5 Cdo, was a good friend and Commando Pal of Mick Collins. Geoff & Mick met in the recruiting Office of the Kings Royal Rifle Corps (KRRC) as they were joining up, they volunteered for special service in the Commandos together, trained at Achnacarry together where they were paired up as Pals. Posted to 5 Troop No5 Cdo they fought side by side in Burma and were both WIA on 23rd March 1944. Post WWII, they remained in close contact until Mick sadly succumbed to TB in 1956.

3861947 Pte Daniel Christie, North Lancs Regiment (Loyals), 6 Troop, No5 Cdo. Pte Christie served in No5 Cdo from 06 Mar 42 to 09 Nov 45.

It is likely that this is the Intelligence Section of HQ Troop as it is known that Larry moved from 2 Troop to HQ Troop whilst still a Lt.
